I am new to nursing home ministry – I began my visits just one year ago. When I first met Jesus 30 years ago, I told the Lord, “I want to be part of your kingdom and bring a boatload of people with me.” And 30 years later I’ve found my purpose. It took a long time, but I have found my niche, and I am so grateful. Every week I get to go to the nursing home stand back and watch the Lord do amazing work.
A young man named Jim gave the message last month. He said to the residents, “I asked the Lord what he wanted me to tell you and the Lord gave me two things:
1) You are very valuable; and
2) He is calling you to be in the army of the Lord; the Lord says, ‘I am gathering my people.’”
Then Jim spoke about the cross of Christ. He said:
“Jesus told the thief on the cross, ‘Today you’ll be with me in paradise.’ That thief was the first person the Lord took with Him. I’m speaking to each and every one of you. You say, ‘I’m not happy, I can’t walk, I don’t want to live anymore, I have no purpose.’”
“Well, yes, you may be confined to a wheelchair, but Jesus was confined to a cross and his arms and feet didn’t work, either. The Lord wants this nursing home to be a hub of prayer. He is covering this place with His angels.”
Dishes stopped clattering and there was silence in the room as the spirit of God moved in that room. It was powerful.
After the service, we took the residents back to their rooms. They were so enlivened; each resident was making eye contact with us. They were alert and energized. The power of God was there. We were amazed and thought, “What did God just do?”
This is the 11th hour for our elderly friends – this is their last season to know the love of Jesus. Every Monday now, we are having breakthroughs as the Lord touches their hearts. All the glory and credit go to God. I am so amazed at what He is doing! ~ Bonnie Broz
