One young nursing assistant we’ve known for years has been deepening his walk with the Lord. We have watched him grow spiritually, and several months ago we asked him if he would be willing to prepare and share the devotional during an upcoming service at the care home. He agreed – hesitantly. The day of the service, he stood in front of the room, red- faced and uneasy, shared a very brief Scripture and sat down quickly. Afterward, he sheepishly told us how nervous he had been.
We told him it was wonderful that he had the courage to try, and encouraged him to keep sharing. And he is! Every month he now offers to share a message. (Sometimes twice a month!) Each time, he speaks with more conviction, expounding on the Scripture and making more eye contact with the residents. He is blossoming into quite a preacher! When we thanked him last month, he told us he loves sharing Scripture with people!
So, along with the already-excellent physical care he provides to his residents, he is now taking an ever-increasing role in their spiritual care. It is one of the great delights of our ministry to have a front-row seat as we watch our Lord raise up this young messenger of good news!
